Property and Location

This old Charming Farmhouse, parts of which are believed to date back to the 1750's, is set in its own secluded gardens of over 1/2 an acre, with a swimming pool, in the hamlet of Le Grand Chevallon in the heart of the Charente Maritime.

The Charente Maritime has a climate second only to the South of France.  On average there are 2600 hours of sunshine and its " Micro Climate " enjoys mild winters and warm sunny summers.  It is also famous for its seafood ( especially oysters ), Cognac, Pineau de Charente and many cheeses are among the regions specialities.

The Historic town of Saintes is 20 minutes away by car with Cognac 30 minutes further on.  The lovely Atlantic beaches are just over 1/2 an hour away while the old and cosmopolitan town of La Rochelle takes 40 minutes.   Bordeaux and Futuroscope are also within easy reach.  Local activities include Golf, Fishing, Sailing, Tennis, Windsurfing, Birdwatching, Riding and Cycling.

Getting there:

There are daily low cost flights with Ryanair to La Rochelle and Poitiers from Stansted along with the Fly-Be service from Southampton and Birmingham also to La Rochelle.  There are also flights from London Gatwick, East Midlands, Manchester, Bristol and Dublin to Bordeaux.  The TGV stops at Angouleme, Surgeres and La Rochelle.  The Channel Ports of St Malo, Roscoff, Cherbourg, Caen and Le Havre are between 5 and 7 hours away.
